FCFC youth join peers for "We are the Majority" Rally

4/30/2015

A celebration of good choices and positive lifestyles

We are the Majority Youth Rally in Cleveland

On Thursday, April 30, 2015, more than 200 participants gathered downtown for the second annual "We are the Majority" rally. High-school youth and youth leaders from Northeast Ohio rallied to raise awareness that the majority of youth make healthy choices and do not use alcohol or other drugs.

The Family & Children First Council's group of youth leaders, the Youth Advocacy and Leadership Coalition (YALC), helped organize and populate this event. The YALC is a civic leadership program for youth ages 13-18 in Cuyahoga County. It develops young adult leaders by training and supporting them in advocating for youth issues and links them to their communities through service learning experiences.

Students gathered at the Global Center for Health Innovation, participated in teambuilding activities, and then marched to Cleveland City Hall to listen to speakers who inspired them to continue the decision to make good choices.

On the same day, youth from Columbus and Lorain County also marched in rallies.
