Cuyahoga County forum provides essential student health and wellness resources

School Health & Wellness Forum

Cuyahoga County will sponsor a School Health & Wellness Forum on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, to provide administrators, teachers, and education professionals with essential resources to help their districts meet health requirements and implement best practices for student well-being.

In addition to wellness discussions, the event will feature information on cyber-bullying, the Families and Schools Together (FAST) program, Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS), Ohio’s opioid epidemic, and the state-led Coordinated School Health Program (CSHP) initiative. CSHP helps schools integrate best-practice wellness strategies into current initiatives in eight areas: health education, physical education, health services, nutrition services, counseling and psychological services, healthy school environment, healthy promotion for staff, and family/community involvement.

The cost is $20.00 per participant, and includes lunch and six (6.0) contact hours for professionals. The forum will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on May 15 at the Harry E. Eastridge Professional Development Center, 5700 West Canal Road in Valley View.

To request a registration form, contact Sue Coughlin, Educational Service Center of Cuyahoga County, at or 216-901-4246.

The event is supported by Cuyahoga County’s Board of Health, Educational Service Center, and Family & Children First Council.
